Teeth whitening is perfect for people who have healthy, unrestored teeth and gums. People with yellow tones to their teeth fits best.
Find out if teeth whitening is right for you:
Whitening Gels and Strips:
Whitening gels are clear, peroxide-based gels applied with a small brush directly on your teeth. Instructions generally say use them two times a day. The first results are seen in a few days and final results are sustained for about 3 or 4 months.
Whitening strips are very thin, virtually invisible strips that are coated with a peroxide-based whitening gel. The strips are applied twice daily for 30 minutes for 14 days. Initial results are seen in a few days and final results are sustained in 3-4 months, too.
Whitening Toothpastes
All toothpastes help remove surface stains. Some whitening toothpastes contain gentle polishing or chemical agents that provide additional stain removal effectiveness. Whitening toothpastes can help remove surface stains only and do not contain bleach; over-the-counter and whitening products contain carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide that helps lighten the color deep in the tooth.
In other words: stay with whitening toothpastes if you have already white teeth and want to keep them white.
I found out a nice article about 41 tested tootpastes on CR (ConsumerReports.org): the first three best marked toothpastes are from colgate: Colgate Max Fresh, Colgate Luminous, Colgate Tartar Control Whitening.
There are more teeth whitining methods on the market today. Some of them are combined with risks and are very expensive. I'll write on.
